Changes to postal services ?

Have there been changes to postal service rules in France regarding the maximum size of shipments ?

I maybe saw something on RG but I can't find it now.

No rules have been changed but now they are more cautious and refuse quite often outsized parcels.

And the more drastic change we have discussed here is for Mondial Relay. They systematically refuse parcels with one dimension over 1 meter. So no more guitar case and set neck guitar. You can only send bolt-on guitar with the neck detached.

Mondial Relay .. is that the French national postal service ?

Is it just one postal service or all, including DHL ?

No, it's just a shop to shop delivery service. Does it exists in Ireland ?

Shop to shop ? Never heard of that before. I don't think it exists in Ireland.

The French services I am familiar with are Colissimo ( ?) and Chronopost ( several guitars have made their way to Ireland from France in the last 10 years

So those services are not affected ?

If the Schecter PT does not arrive before Christmas from Thomann I may be looking towards France again

It's all about subcontracting.
You make the parcel and print the expedition tag, you bring it along to a shop.
This shop primary bussiness is not parcel, it may be a hair dresser, a butcher, a grocery store, a pub whatever. They take your parcel and scan the tag (in fact, they're renting a part of their space and their time).
A independant delivery service picks it up and brings it to the hub (and it's where the Mondial Relay work begin). They bring it to another hub near the final delivery place. Then, another independant delivery service takes it and bring it to another shop (same, a restaurant, a mall, etc.). The person you send the parcel to comes to this shop and picks it.
Really cuts the expedition costs, and when there's a problem, it's everybody hence nobody's fault.
