50th Anniversary American Deluxe Strat 2004

Alder body, tobacco burst finish. Modern C profile maple neck and board with abalone dots.

Gold hardware with locking Schaller tuners, SCN pickups with S-1 switching.

The neck profile is fuller near the edges, different to American Stds I have played.

The SCNs are silent, bridge pickup is a little bright and could do with a bit more power . Lots of guys don't like them. If you use effects a lot they are good, noise free. I prefer them to EMGs in a Strat. The S-1 switching is a nice idea but to me it sounds like single coils with the tone rolled off.

Bought this new in '05 as the UK/ Ireland distributor still had one in lefty.

I actually bought two Fenders after this, the last was in 2006. Then, thanks to the internet, I discovered G&L. I haven't even considered another Fender since. That probably sounds like total bs I know but it was always Fender for me, until I found George and Leos guitars.
