G&L USA ASAT Classic Custom

Fairly recent 2009 or so model in natural finish with an extra chunky satin finish birds eye maple neck and fingerboard.

Ash body with rear contour, aka "belly cut". Single ply black pickguard and ash tray bridge.

Pickups are a G&L MFD in the bridge and a soapbar sized MFD in the neck. The neck pickup is wound especially hot for this model, it sounds somewhere between a P90 and a humbucker, really warm and fat.

The neck on this one is seriously big and chunky, very fat indeed.

Is it a full neck "à la Music Man" (means no maple cap, the neck is open, the truss is inserted, and the neck is glued back before carving*), or is it a maple cap ?

*I've got a G&L bass neck that is made like this

Yes, they do make a very nice neck !

This one has a maple cap fingerboard, they changed the way they are made a couple of years ago. Some G&L fans don't seem to like the change, I don't mind either way.
