Gumtree UK ... LEFT-HANDED 1990 GIBSON LES PAUL '59 FLAMETOP RE-ISSUE
With much regret I am selling my gorgeous 1990 re-issue of the 1959 Les Paul ‘flametop’ Standard. My gigging days are over now, and I feel guilty that this lovely instrument has spent the last five years hidden in a cupboard in the bedroom. So if you’re a leftie who dreams of owning the very best Les Paul since the 50’s, this is your chance! My loss will definitely be your gain.
This particular guitar was made to special order for a British customer living in the USA, and was the top-of-the-range Les Paul at the time, and no doubt very expensive. It was brought back to the UK and I am the second owner, and have had it for about twelve years. It’s possibly the only L/H ’59 re-issue of this vintage in the UK. It was built as part of the ‘Heritage’ range, which preceded the ‘Custom Shop’ series which came later in 1992-3. Check out the ‘Heritage’ LP’s on various blogs and you’ll discover that they are rated as exceptionally good guitars. Professional players have been using them since the early 1980’s.
Everything about this guitar represents Gibson’s very best. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard, Grade AAA maple top and one-piece mahogany body (and neck) are of a quality that is rarely found today. The construction and detailing make it a truly authentic reproduction of a ’59, and the INK serial number (9 0368) is the icing on the cake. Weight is a fraction over 9 lbs.
As a 25 year-old Les Paul of the highest quality, it represents a collector’s guitar of the future. It also has an unmistakable ‘old’ look, without any of the ‘artificial’ bullshit. The dulled nickel and ‘warmer’ pick-up rings and binding are all the natural result of age and use. If there’s a more fabulous-looking L/H Les Paul re-issue than this, I have yet to see it. But in case you think this is just an ornament, it also sounds and plays superb. Its acoustic resonance is incredible, and offers all the tone, sustain and character that make the early Les Pauls the most famous and expensive guitars in existence.
So ..... if you’re somebody who lusts after a great L/H Les Paul, but winces at the price of a new L/H R9 (.... OUCH!), this offers a chance to get something better and more exclusive at a realistic price. More details and photos on request.

Indeed and I add
